Rebecca (Achelles) Smith is an Australian writer, mixed-media artist, and visual storyteller based on the NSW Central Coast.

Through essays, video and tactile artwork, she explores creativity, identity and the stories that shape us.

Rebecca’s essays explore creativity, motherhood, identity, neurodivergence and the stories we tell ourselves.

Her writing has appeared in HuffPost, Mindful Parenting magazine, and Anthologia Ed.3 (The Kind Press)

A few personal things, just for fun…

  • I’m a mum to twin boys, Heath and Quinn (often misheard as “Keith” and “Flynn” by our sweet but deaf elderly neighbours).

  • I make mixed-media collage artwork and at the start of 2026 I hosted my first in-person art workshop with ten wonderful women. I hope to run another towards end of 2026 - Click over to ‘Workshops’ for more on that.

  • I collect vintage magazines, op-shop treasures and beautiful things destined for a second life. My style is eclectic and boho.

  • Before motherhood, I worked as a freelance copywriter - an experience that taught me the psychology of marketing and the power of an engaging story.

For more than five years I’ve helped brands tell meaningful stories through video, editorial content and strategic storytelling on social media.

Today, my work sits at the intersection of writing, mixed-media art and visual storytelling. I’m especially interested in collaborating with thoughtful brands, publishers, authors and creatives who value originality over trends. I’m endlessly fascinated by the stories people carry - the ones we inherit, the ones we tell ourselves, and the ones stitched into old photographs, heirloom fabrics and everyday objects.

Whether I’m writing an essay, creating a collage or working with a client, I’m always looking for the details that make something feel vulnerable and human.
